I have had psoriasis since I was 5 years old and now 13 and still have it. I come from a very acne prone adolescence so I’ve always had skin issues. Then I moved on to glycerin and aloe regimen, it took at least a week to see the results but very promising. I’ve had psoriasis for 38 yrs with it the worst on my scalp. I’m not talking about a lot, I don’t go to the beach and bake myself, I’m talking about going outside in a short sleeve shirt and no hat for at least 15-20 mins. each day. That’s all it takes. If it doesn’t work, at least you will know you tried it.

She seemed pretty sure that I have scalp psoriasis, even though I don’t have psoriasis anywhere else on my body. It is a corticosteroid which is all sorts of fun, but Beta-Val is used sparingly enough, for me, at least, that I have noticed absolutely no side effects. I haven’t been to a dermatologist in about 15 years, but the two I went to couldn’t agree on whether I have psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, or ezcema (or probably a combination). Mainly severe psoriasis has those symptoms compounded. The scalp is another area that can really be difficult to treat, and then the private areas or the genital areas sometimes. There is at least better-treated psoriasis in sunny climates because we know sun helps psoriasis. That’s one of the nice things about being 10 or 15 years into this biological revolution – we have a lot of experience with it.
Posted by PrisK on 15th February 2012 07:02PM. when my psoriasis is really bad, I am putting some olive oil on my scalp like a mask that I keep on all day – you have to be sure that you won’t have to go out though!;) And then I wash it off with T/Gel and mostly the coldest water I can take as hot water makes it worse. Bit of a faff but at least means are maximising the actual treatment. I’ve had psoriasis on for 14 years and have had it on my scalp for all of that time. I don’t think it’s connected to the scalp psoriasis as I was losing my hair at least a year before the psoriasis started.
