Psoriasis is a long-lasting autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin. Guttate psoriasis has drop-shaped lesions. Psoriasis is estimated to affect 24 of the population of the western world. It is estimated that 1-2 of Singapore population have psoriasis. Psoriasis usually presents with red scaly patches on the scalp, body and limbs. It is estimated that 1-2 of the population in Singapore have psoriasis.
Psoriasis is a common, chronic, scaly rash that affects people of all ages (about 2 of the population) and it tends to run in families. Psoriasis is characterised by red, scaly patches of skin, which usually have very well defined edges. The National Skin Centre estimates that psoriasis affects 1 to 2 per cent of the population in Singapore. It is one of the top 10 commonest skin diseases treated here. The PSORS1 locus was confirmed in Chinese population by our previous genome-wide scan analysis 37. As expected, only the haplotypes carrying either HLA-Cw6 (HLA-C haplotype 11) or CDSN TTC (CDSN haplotype 2) allele are positively associated with psoriasis. Psoriasis affects 0.6 to 4.8 percent of the U.S. population, and about 30 percent of affected patients have a first-degree relative with the disease. The prevalence of psoriasis in the United States is estimated to be 0.6 to 4.8 percent.1 Psoriasis is slightly more common in men. About 30 percent of patients with psoriasis have a first-degree relative with the disease, and those with early-onset disease are more likely to have a family history of psoriasis.1,2 These facts lend support for a genetic basis for the disease, and several chromosome loci have been implicated. Ann Acad Med Singapore. About the GESTURE and TRANSFIGURE studiesGESTURE has the largest sample size (N 205) and longest duration (132-week treatment period) of any biologic study in moderate-to-severe palmoplantar psoriasis and represents an important achievement in research in a patient population that has been underrepresented in psoriasis trials. In addition to the EU and the US, Cosentyx has been approved in Switzerland, Chile, Australia, Canada and Singapore for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and in Japan for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis and active psoriatic arthritis (PsA). We identified six new susceptibility loci associated with psoriasis in the Chinese study containing the candidate genes ERAP1, PTTG1, CSMD1, GJB2, SERPINB8 and ZNF816A (combined P 5 10 8) and replicated one locus, 5q33. Further, trans-ethnic comparison suggests population-specific effect or allelic heterogeneity for 11 loci. Psoriasis has a high genetic predisposition with estimated heritability up to 80 (refs 1, 7). KI and Singapore data sets included samples of European descent from Sweden and Han Chinese from Singapore, respectively. Atrophic vaginitis – it has been estimated that 4-5 years after the menopause, around 25-50 of women experience symptoms due to atrophic vaginitis. A personal or family history of skin disease (eg, atopy, psoriasis, eczema) or autoimmune disease (associated with lichen sclerosus) may be significant. Lichen simplex can be treated with topical betamethasone for 1-2 weeks to break the itch-scratch cycle. Psoriasis Epidemiology, Journal of Clinical Case Reports. Japan Singapore Mexico. DH, initially described by Louis Duhring in 1983 4, is considered an autoimmune skin disease with an estimated prevalence range from 1,2 to 39,2 per 100.000 and an incidence range of 0,4 to 2,6 per 100. Some patients have affected nails and joints (psoriatic arthritis) with an obvious decline in quality of life 31. In reality the average intake in developed countries is 1-2 mg of boron per day. Also other beneficial effects have been reported such as improvement of heart problems, vision, psoriasis, balance, memory and cognition. He wrote that people can commonly get rid of their pain, swelling and stiffness in about 1 to 3 months.
