Can you tell us what psoriasis is and how it manifests into the skin problems that we see? In some places it’s growing two to three times and sometimes even ten times more rapidly than on the areas of skin that don’t have psoriasis, and that’s why you see these thickened areas that may become red. And we know that it is the T-cell in the skin, that particular part of the immune system, that seems to be the most commonly affected in psoriasis patients. For example, is it more difficult to treat somebody with maybe 30 percent of their body covered with psoriasis versus somebody with ten percent coverage?. Did you know what triggered your psoriasis? I’m somebody who hates psoriasis a whole lot more than anyone who does not have it, and therefore I feel myself allied with everybody else against my psoriasis. If I didn’t know anything about this disease and I saw somebody with these terrible skin lesions, would I stick my foot in my mouth and maybe say something I’d regret later? And the answer is probably yes. Or stuff like that, and maybe we could do a cruise. People can be particularly unkind and surprisingly vain. It’s difficult to meet someone for the first time and explain a skin. Maybe you could teach them a thing or two about what having tough skin really means. I would love to hear anyones stories though! Like you I’m on a dating website, I don’t announce I have P but I make sure if I’m going to meet them on a date they are forewarned.

I’m happy with who I am, and don’t think that my skin makes me unlovable as a person. Make sure you know how to explain your condition to people in easy-to-understand language, though, because it will come up and they’ll want to know what they can do for you and how it affects you. Just tell someone after a few dates about it (or like, maybe prior to anything physical. There is something very few in my social ring know. I’m happy to give you and further advise and tips if you would like them. I don’t eat any white bread and try to avoid things with white flour in them. A3, I’m sorry to hear about your friend’s bad experience. Your friend can’t make you have psoriasis, no matter how much he’ll touch you, so you can go swimming with him with out any worries. My wife got psoriasis and I don’t want to get infected A1, Psoriasis itself, as was written above, isn’t contagious, i.e. if someone has psoriasis he or she can’t transmit it to you. I’m afraid that the children of today will grow up to be shallow shells, more concerned about fitting into what the glossy magazines think is in that year, and not developing their inner self. Someone who has the confidence in themselves as a person is much more beautiful than someone who only worries about how the outside fits in. Unfortunately,, we don’t have such disease related organizations here and even if we did, I don’t think this will change anything, nothing can change people’s mentalities and the way they think. I Have Severe Psoriasis

But what you are afraid of is what you don’t know. I am completely clear, with occasional outbreaks that consist of maybe 1 to 3 lesions at a time. I’m sorry to hear that. I developed psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis about four years ago. We were very incompatible and so it didn’t go anywhere, but I guess what I am trying to say is that perhaps I need to find someone with a similar problem as they can relate / it won’t freak them out. And you know, I think I even convinced myself for a minute (admittedly the lights were off and I was so focussed on what was going on) and the benefits were. I can’t wear anything but long sleeves and pants, and I’m so afraid for the summertime. Now I’d like to hear from you. I’m afraid of making her gut worse but I know she is miserable. I just got excited because Cyndi Lauper (you know, Cyndi Lauper) has psoriasis, and talks about it here. Sure, maybe it was sponsored by a pharmaceutical company, but man, I ALWAYS feel better when I find out about celebrities who have it too. (Sorry, I don’t know if you’re in the U.S. or not.) Others I like include Nizoral and shampoos with tea tree oil (Trader Joe’s has a cheaper version). I know (sometimes) I’m still beautiful regardless. You all know just how bad it gets with the constant itching, pain and bleeding from picking at it, not to mention the embarrassing flaking all over my shoulders that causes me to be forever brushing off my shoulders. I can’t remember the last time I wore a dark colored top. Or shorts and bare legs in the summer. So after two months (Feb/ 14) of not seeing much of anything my psoriasis started clearing up and it took maybe a week and after that it basically went into full remission! Now it’s April and it’s like I never had it!! It is the best gift I could ever have wished for, I wake up and still cannot believe I don’t have to deal with it anymore. I’m afraid I won’t be going down that route at the moment while my current treatment is giving me virtually 100 relief from my psoriasis. It also scared me, as my mom dealt some sort of face rash in the decade leading up to her passing. I’m not binge eating boxes of bakery doughnuts, but I do know how to bake and am pretty darn good at it. So many of you have offered suggestions for psoriasis treatment, and many others have shared their own stories of dealing with chronic illness and being let down by conventional medicine. I do believe that I will be able to get this fully under control so I don’t have to suffer my whole life. Maybe a homemade salve?

For as long as I can remember, I have had dry, scaley skin on my elbows. The hypochondriac that I am, I don’t let things like that go unnoticed. But you know what, instead, it really didn’t do anything at all. This really scared me. And maybe by sharing my story with psoriasis it will help someone else feel a little better about something going on with them. Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis can be isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. I can t wait to hear yours! The P maybe silent, but you don’t have to be. Its the best so far and very cheap. you can by it in any chemist. I’m nearly 18 and I have tried every cream possible, all light treatments and chinese medicine including acupuncture! P is such a horrible condition but I guess we could have worse, doesn’t make it any easier though. First time living you might as well say. bit scared though of what you just said. please god i don’t get any problems. I’m sorry to hear about your psoriasis flare up, I’ve never had it but I have friends who do and it’s horrible. I was used to having to be flexible with stuff because you never know when bad days creep up and you just can’t work or do anything. I didn’t want to go to bed, because I was afraid the good day would end! Diet is important but these natural remedies can help get rid of it once and for all! Just as you can’t out supplement a bad diet in other areas, topical remedies don’t address the underlying problem that is causing the eczema to begin with. I know it’s a year late, but my husband suffered from eczema in his ears for years and he was finally tested for food allergies. I wonder if you’d be able to find a doctor like that, it’s usually up to the doc’s discretion if they bulk bill or not – so maybe if you talked to an actual doctor you might make more headway then just talking to the receptionist.
